Real-time Advice for Active Business

 

  Carol Webster Millie has been an attorney and ADR provider since 1977. She is experienced in advising clients in business, industry, and government; helping them to resolve conflict prior to, during and after litigation in the areas of employment law; contracts; facilitation of decision making in business units, dissolution of partnerships; and technology ownership contests.

Carol served as Associate General Counsel to the Watkins-Johnson Company for eight years where, through the provision of real-time advice on managing business, she developed a command of the practical realities of business. In 1997, together with the late Richard G. Bell, Carol co-founded Corporate Advisory Law Group to offer strategic counseling for emerging technology companies. CALG advises emerging companies and individuals on day-to-day business decisions ranging from contracts, theft of trade secrets, strategic licensing, and business reversals to violence in the workplace and wrongful termination. Ms. Millie has also served as a member of the Dallas Civil Service Board represented municipal entities as outside counsel to the city attorney and county counsel.

Carol represents clients in negotiation of agreements involving strategic alliances, research and development of semiconductor capital equipment, telecommunications and microwave electronics products. Her experience in the Pacific Rim includes the construction of a demonstration facility in Kawasaki, Japan and the establishment of business entities across Asia and Europe. In addition, she advises on labor and employment matters for international clients, including sex harassment at a subsidiary operating in Asia.

Carol has served as attorney and neutral in cases involving: theft of trade secrets; unfair competition; contracts, including matters involving formation, performance and breach; professional malpractice; public and private employment matters including age, sex and racial harassment, discrimination, and wrongful termination.

Carol earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her J.D. at the University of San Francisco School of Law. She is a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court and state bars of California and Texas as well as the bar associations of Santa Clara County, Palo Alto and San Francisco.

Carol is a member of ADR Executive Committee of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the Mediation Society, the Association for Conflict Resolution, California Dispute Resolution Council and has served as an AAA Arbitrator since 1977. She is a member of the mediation panels of various courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. She has extensive training in mediation and arbitration and has lectured on both subjects for the Employment Law Institute for Corporate Counsel.
